As the child of a heroin addict, Janie is determined to make it as a blues singer. She moved from foster home to foster home and when she went back to live with her mother she was given away to a couple to pay for her mother\'s addiction. That couple got arrested so Janie, or now Leshaya, runs away to try to begin a singing career. During her journey she gets caught up in drugs, stealing, and older guys in her strife for attention and love and she gets pregnant. She leaves her new daughter with her old foster brother to raise in order to continue persuing her singing. But will it ever be enough for someone who starves for love from others when the true place to find it is with herself?
