I enjoyed reading Blessings, but I thought the plot dragged on throughout the beginning and middle of the novel. Lydia's story helped me to reflect on my own life. I now appreciate what I have because it could all be taken away in an instant, such as when Lydia's brother Sunny unexpectedly committed suicide in the barn at Blessings. I think a lot of different people could relate to Skip, because many people often go on journeys to try to escape their past and start a better life. Anna Quindlen made her novel more realistic by giving it a sad, but realistic ending. I did not enjoy it, because I prefer happy endings. The story did not turn out the way I hoped it would. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to read for leisure. Blessings by Anna Quindlen was very well written, and can touch a reader to the very core of their heart.
