I like this book because I could relate to the main character, Alfred Brooks. I admired his work ethic and how he learned that it is what he puts into his training and how hard he works that makes him better and not the win. He never gave up on that philosophy from the time he first learned it and he followed that lesson in his career as a boxer and in his job. I also admired that when Alfred\'s best friend got into trouble with drugs and the law, Alfred never gave up on his friend. I think other kids would like this book because they, too, could possibly relate to this character; not necessarily the boxing part, but how the main character never gives up on himself or his friend from the start of the book to the end.
