| The reason I like this book is because it shows how someone can start with opportunities, lose them, and still fight back to try and retrieve those lost chances. This book is a great book to sit down and read, and right away it catches your attention and graspes your mind. I like this book mainly because it shows how easy I have my life, and that I am or i should be lucky for the things I have. This story is about a time in John Gantos' life where he had many things going on. He had moved, and didn't like it, he had gotten in trouble with drugs, and it didn't turn out good. The fact that this is true in his life, and he still ended up to be a successful writer in life amazes me. It showed me that I can achieve anything I put my mind to. Although, probably the biggest thing I like about this book is what made me read it. It is the dedication page, it's not a dedication to anyone, but rather a quote by Oscar Wilde, "I have learned this: it is not what one does that is wrong, but what one becomes as a consuquence of it." I really do believe that other people would like this book because it just is an amazing novel, it's an award winner, and most of the things that happen to John, most of us can relate to in some way or another. |
