A hard rock drummer as an author? You bet. Neil Peart is the drummer and lyricist for the world famous Canadian rock trio Rush, and in this book he describes what it is like to tour the U.S. and Europe during Rush's 30th anniversary tour two years ago. Half of this book is about the places Peart visits as he rides his motorcycle between shows, and the other half is like what it is like to be one of the most famous rock musicians ever on tour. At times, Peart might seem a little snobby (he only likes staying and eating at some of the most expensive places) and a little intellectual, but other times he really lets the reader see what it's like to live on the road. There are no stories about wild parties or the crazy rocker lifestyle (unless you think his trying to visit as many national parks as possible between gigs is crazy), so this book is for the more mature reader who is curious about how "normal" rock musicians spend their private time on the road.
